Newlands Memorial Fell Race

4 club members competed in the annual and renamed Newlands Memorial Fell Race, which was a English National Championship event and included many top-class Fell Runners from all over England. The course, which was based around Keswick in the Lake District National Park, consisted of a very testing 11.5 miles with 3,609 Feet of climb Daniel Bateson finished up in 68th Overall and 16th Over-40 in 1.49.02 He was followed by Matthew Jones 184 th , Matt Machouki 306th and Robert Bailey 355th of the 570 finishers, plus 13 who were timed out after failing to meet strict cut-off timing.

Boston UK Marathon

Evelyn Fordyce became the first club member to compete in an official Road Race Marathon this year. She achieved this accolade ahead of many others, who will be competing at the Manchester and London Marathons on 27 April At the Boston UK Marathon, Evelyn completed her first ever marathon in 4 hours 47 minutes, 175th Female of 243 and 12th Over-55.

Hemsley 10-Kilometres Mult-Terrain 10-Kilometre Race

Julia Webb competed in the Hemsley 10-Kilometres Mult-Terrain 10-Kilometre Race. The course consisted of a mixture of forest tracks, footpaths and fields. A finish time of 63.51 was achieved after finishing 247th overall of 304, 91st Overall of 131 Females, and 14th of 22 Over-60s

Leeds Running Festival at Roundhay Park. 10-Kilometres Race Martin and Mandy Pepworth competed in the 10-Kilometres Race at the Leeds Running Festival held at Roundhay Park Martin finished 90th of 542 and 6th Over-55 in 51.44. Mandy finished 307th Female and 17th Over-55 in 97.07

Wykeham

36 Club Members took part in the latest Wykeham Parrkrun, at which a new record total of 322 finishers was achieved. Notwithstanding the record total, the club achieved many notable Age Group results – 5 x 1st , 6 x 2nd, 4 x 3rd, but other than Mark Bowes windy weather seemed to rule out Personal Best (PB) times Paul Lawton led the club members when finishing 2nd Overall of the new record total Fay Hethershaw finished 1st Female for the club, 6th Female Overall of 133 and 1st Over-50 Other Male Results; Dale Hepples 3rd Over-45, M.Rutt 29th, C.Brown 3rd Over-50, M.May 1st Over60, A.Padgham 48th, M. Bowes 1st Over-55 with a PB, N. Kilroe 2nd Junior 10 Years, M.Pepworth 6th Over-55, C. Bourne 8th Over-55, M. Whiteley 4th Over-65, D.Fox 2nd Over-70, P. Northedge 1st Over75, D. Dalby Forest

An above average 7 club members took part in the latest Dalby Forest Parkrun Robert Preston finished 1st Overall of 284 and achieved his 14th first place at this Parkrun Claire O’Neil led the club’s females with 11th Female overall of 138 and 2nd Over-45 All other results; Nicola Doody 4th Over-50, David Field 5th Over-60, Giulia Wilkins 5th Over-45, Jennie Trown 6th Over-45

Sewerby

There was also an average of 8 club members taking part in the latest Sewerby Parkrun. The event attracted the 2nd Highest Total of 457 James Robertson was first for the club and 16th overall of the well over average finishers Christine Robertson led the club’s females in an impressive 65th Overall of 202 Females and 3rd Over-65 Other Results; Ekaitz Unanue 7th Over-40, Paul Griffiths 20th Over-45, John Lambe 19th Over-45, Linda Hinchliffe 8th Over-50, Patricia Keenan 7th Over-70, Mary Slater 2nd Over-75

Anna Giddings was 4th Female Overall of 108. Robert Grainger 8th Over-50, Karl Cousins 14th Over50 Al Others (not many this week!)

Rob Powell 59th Overall of 870 and 3rd Over-55
